• EXCEL 1 for Beginners

    The goal of this course is to introduce the new user to basic operations used in creating Excel spreadsheets. This is a 4 week course that will teach you EXCEL tips.

  • This MS Publisher course is to help classroom teachers create custom projects for their classroom.  These projects include calendar, business card, flyer, banner and poster.  Teachers should have a basic knowledge of word processing before taking the class.  These projects are relatively simple, but previous computer and MS Word knowledge is required.

    This course goes beyond the basics in Microsoft Word, teaching the use of Passwords and Shortcuts; Flyers and Newsletters; Conversion from Word to PowerPoint; Tables, Page Layouts and Mail Merges.

  • Microsoft Word: Basics for Beginners

    An entry-level course for those interested in learning the basics of Microsoft Word.

  • This course focuses on learning how to effectively use several key tools, which the participants will later be able to build upon and use in the classroom. Teachers will explore uses of software tools such as word processors, spreadsheets and presentation programs. They will also explore online tools such as Email, and Web sites.
  • This course will provide a basic introduction into essential technology used by district employees: GroupWise (email), Novell (networks), Oracle (employee information), and Curriculum Central (including MyDataPortal).

    At the conclusion of the course, staff members should be able to:

    • distinguish the difference among the types of basic technology available to DISD employees,
    • know how to access email from DISD locations and from home,
    • use Novell to log into the district networks and to save documents,
    • use Oracle to access employee information,
    • use Curriculum Central to access lessons and Curriculum Planning Guides (CPG's),
    • use MyDataPortal to view student and school data for decision-making,
    • benefit from the use of DallasISD@YourService.
  • The purpose of this course is to introduce novice users to the most basic skills in Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • The purpose of this course is to guide Dallas ISD employees in the appropriate use of GroupWise email utilizing web access.

  • This course introduces you to Novell's GroupWise – Dallas ISD’s chosen email program. In this online course, you will learn how to use the features of GroupWise to send and receive e mail, organizing your mailbox, set up appointments,create task, manage your schedule, and other key features.

    The course focuses on the client version of GroupWise and not the web version of GroupWise. Dallas ISD employees should become familiar with both the client version and the web version. Students interested in the web version should enroll in the Susan MacFarland Course.
